Parish Council

The Parish Council is a consultative body that advises the pastor concerning the pastoral life and ministry of the parish. It is to serve the parish community by prayerfully discerning goals and priorities for the pastoral life of the parish and responding to the needs of its parishioners. It assists the pastor by:

  • Becoming/being aware of the composition and personality of the parish community and serving as a body that is representative of the identity
  • Prayerfully discerning parish needs and possible responses to those needs
  • Setting forth goals and objectives of the parish for long-term planning
  • Identifying and calling forth of members of the parish community with the gifts and talents to respond to parish needs
  • Prayerfully discerning an overall parish response to needs from outside the parish community, e.g., needs of the Universal and Local Church and the local community, ecumenical concerns, social justice needs, etc.

Liturgy Committee

The Liturgy Committee’s responsibilities are:

  • To discern the parish’s worship/liturgical/prayer needs
  • To coordinate the planning and scheduling of the liturgical celebrations for the seasonal and special celebrations.
  • To coordinate, support, and evaluate all liturgical ministries in the parish, i.e. readers, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, altar servers, lectors, cantors, musicians, etc.

Parish Finance Committee

he Parish Finance Council is a consultative body that advises the pastor concerning the stewardship of parish fiscal resources. It assists the pastor by:

  • Conducting long-range financial planning with regard to funding operational and capital needs in the parish
  • Developing and overseeing a parish budget process that results in an annual parish budget
  • Providing financial analysis of current fiscal status reports
  • Providing for proper financial control procedures
  • Providing the parish with periodic reports on the financial position of the parish
